| Show your support for a nation for the people by the people by participating in the economic blackout on February 28th. |
Sadly it's a time when The Republican Administration are firing many, many Americans who have worked hard to earn their positions in the federal government. Trump, Musk and their Republican Associates say they are firing people for "efficiency" sake, but clearly there's no transparent, seemingly thoughtful or positive rhyme or reason for who they are firing and how they are doing it. What's wrong with this picture?
- unvetted programmers without security clearance are gaining access to countless United States' data files with all kinds of secure information about Americans. This not only harms individuals' privacy, but creates all kinds of costly problems going forward.
- unvetted programmers seemingly without the typical security clearance are making changes to secure data files about Americans, American agencies/businesses, and lots and lots of positive efforts made over time to uplift and enrich lives in the United States and abroad.
- this Republican Administration is causing chaos due to the fact that so many of their efforts are secretive, illegal, seemingly dehumanizing, and likely aimed at increasing the wealth of a small percentage of ultra-wealthy individuals and businesses at home and abroad.
- Republican administration leaders are threatening our security and welfare by alining themselves with Nazi/alt-right sympathizers/leaders, making threats to Americans such as saying we are bringing "hell" to your communities, and choosing political appointees without experience to lead critical agencies rather than experienced, non-partisan individuals.
- The firing of experienced, well-regarded military and justice leaders who work to protect Americans and our rights in significant ways.
- The President of the United States is playing a lot of golf while it appears that he is ceding all power to Elon Musk, one of the richest men in the world who was not elected. (Trump spent about $10,000,000 during his first month in office.)
- Elon Musk is profiting greatly from the efforts he's leading in the federal government. It appears that he's deleting all efforts to regulate or investigate the millions he receives in federal contracts. Reports say Musk earns $8,000,000 a day via those contracts.
- The Republicans in Congress are thoughtlessly and irresponsibly backing almost all of what the Trump/Musk presidency is promoting.
- Almost all leaders in the Republican Administration are supporting Putin over Ukraine as well as pulling support from our long time NATO allies. Putin has been a vicious leader with countless human rights violations and war crimes. It is often deadly and/or harmful to exercise freedom of speech in Russia.
- Trump talks often about his vision of building hotels on the Gaza coast while displacing Palestinians from their homeland.
- The Republican Administration is putting costly tariffs in place that will result in increased costs for all Americans.
- The federal firings are having a trickle down effect in the United States as consumer confidence weakens and people's ability to support mortgages and family needs are challenged.
- The disruption in federal agencies is also affecting both consumer confidence and safety as important regulatory agencies are losing long term expert employees and are no longer able to continue their vital research, regulatory work, and many, many supports for good, lawful, fair living in the United States.
- Diversity, equity and inclusion efforts have been stopped and/or hindered by the Republican Administration -- these efforts harm as many as 90% of Americans since the only group the Republican Administration is clearly supporting are wealthy white heterosexual men. Since about 30% of Americans are white men and about 10-15% of those men are either elderly, disabled or LBGTQ and only 12% of Americans are deemed wealthy--that means the Republican Administration works for about 10% of Americans at best.
That's a lot of troubling efforts for the average American who has a full schedule of daily responsibilities to grasp in these difficult times. Most everyday people are super busy taking care of families, going to work, contributing to their communities and just keeping up with everyday routines and responsibility. The only way that everyday people can react to stop and change what the dangerous and destructive Republican Administration is doing now is to join together to speak up and act to bring law and order back to our country before it is too late.
What can we do?
- Join good groups such as Indivisible, Democracy Docket, Heather Cox Richardson, Blue Sky and more to stay informed.
- Make a pledge to regularly resist what is happening by writing to elected officials, telling your story with detail on social media about how the Republican Administration's efforts are negatively affecting your life, attending Town Halls, protesting, volunteering to help out in the community, and more.
- Stay informed
- Make sure that you are able to vote--the voting rules keep changing because the Republican Administration is making it more and more difficult for everyday people to vote, stay up to date about voting rules and requirements in your community. In the last election about 30% of Americans did not vote. Of those that did vote, less than half voted for the current Republican Administration. Voting matters.
- Get legal help before acting if the Republican Administration comes after you.
- Have your phones handy and photograph any evidence you see of injustice--it may be unsafe for you to get involved when you witness injustice, but you can film the event and send it to news channels, law enforcement you trust, and trustworthy elected officials.
- Join or rejoin unions--unionization is the only way that everyday workers will get the rights they need.
- Stay active and informed in your union--organizations remain responsible and ethical when members stay involved. Any group can become unethical if people don't stay involved.
- Do not support agencies or businesses that support the current Republican Administration as much as possible--anyone who works with or for the current Republican Administration supports the evil they are promoting at this time. Join Americans in the February 28th economic blackout--this will demonstrate the financial power/might of the everyday American people.
- Empower and enrich everyday people with needs as much as you can with the skills, energy, talents, and resources you have. Contribute to strong communities rather than supporting the Republican Administration's will to divide us and harm good living for so many Americans.
- Increase your support for diversity, equity and inclusion in your communities--when everyone in the community has the opportunity to live good lives, communities are more peaceful and prosperous. Our diversity is our strength.
Everyone can participate in working against the danger and destruction the Republican Administration is brewing now--get involved in safe, positive, peaceful ways. The best result may be a stronger democracy in the United States where good living increases, but that's going to take a lot of good work at this time. I'm reading a lot, listening, and trying to do my part. I welcome your ideas and knowledge.
