What are your values?

The divisive politics at play in the United States right now calls all of us to consider our values about how we live and what we do. I thought a lot about this today. These are the values I believe in. I welcome debate and response.

My values:

  • I believe we can strive for an equation where everyone on Earth has the opportunity to live a happy, healthy, peaceful life.
  • I believe we should do all we can as a people to help people thrive in their daily lives.
  • I believe that everyone should have access to nutritious food, clean water/soil/air, healthy recreation, quality education/health care, and warm, welcoming, safe homes and communities.
  • I believe that everyone deserves a fair wage and just working conditions for the work they do.
  • I believe we have to help those who are vulnerable due to illness, poverty, political unrest, natural disasters and the effects of climate change.
  • I believe we have to support innovation that improves and enriches lives and the environment.
  • I believe that no one is superhuman and that we all are imperfect. With this in mind, I believe we have to be sensitive to each other's strengths and challenges.
  • I believe that investment in public health and education are two of the most powerful investments when it comes to a peaceful, prosperous society.
  • I believe in human rights and I believe that if leaders use the lens of what's best for children when making decisions, they will make decisions that benefit all people.
What did I miss? What would you change? What are your values?
