Pope Francis' Funeral Reflections

 I'm watching Pope Francis' procession to his burial place at St, Mary Major. I feel a spirit of Francis' love, simplicity, freedom, and grace in the air. It is a good feeling. 

Throughout my life I've had many rich experiences at funerals because during those funerals good lives were recognized and celebrated with friends and loved ones. Also during each of these funerals I was able to identify aspects of lives I wanted to bring forward in my own life--beautiful characteristics of lives well lived. 

As I watch Pope Francis' procession, I am thinking about the aspects of his life that I want to bring forward. I want to bring forward his personal freedom, simplicity, love of all people, patience, honesty, spirituality and simplicity. His death touches at the most personal aspects of who I am and what I hope for in my life and the lives of others--so personal that I really can't capture it publicly in writing. Onward.
