The way we spend our dollars, time, energy, and resources matters with respect to the quality of our individual and collective lives. There's always room to become more intentional about how you spend your dollars, time, energy and resources.
I want to become more discerning with my expenditures so that I have money, time, energy, and resources for what truly matters to me.
Good living for all
The more I live, the more I desire that all people have the opportunity to live good lives. I hate to see people suffer in any way, and I want to contribute to leaders, organizations, events, and efforts to raise the standard of living for those who face suffering, oppression, injustice, and lack of opportunity.
How can everyday people like me contribute to betterment? What can I do?
Time
I need to think more deeply about the way I spend time. How much time is spent in service to others and how much time is wasted on unimportant objectives? I was recently with a friend who donates a considerable amount of time each week in service to others. That friend is truly making a difference in the lives in our community. I'm going to think more deeply about my capacity to give, and how I might increase my service work as well.
Energy
Time and energy are often thought of as the same thing, but I like to think about the two categories separately since we all have limited amounts of energy, and how we increase and expend that energy matters. Positive routines increase good energy, so a focus on positive energy provides you with the good energy you need to give more.
Money
When it comes to money, you need to first think about your responsibility to pay needed bills and care for yourself and your family. After that, it's good to think about ways that you can simplify life so you have money to give to worthy people and causes in your midst. In many people's lives, there's room to save a few dollars to give away. Good ways to save is to be mindful of your weekly grocery shopping, plant a garden that allows you to give away some of the food, shop second-hand, make gifts rather than buy gifts, shop sales, create inexpensive or free recreation and entertainment options, and more.
Affiliations
Intentional affiliations that promote the good in your life and the lives of others helps you to be thoughtful in the ways you spend your time, money, energy, and resources. As much as possible, shopping at reputable organizations, is one way to support the greater good. I want to learn more about which organizations are the best when it comes to living a good life for self and others.
Living thoughtful, intentional lives focused on uplifting lives at home and in the community is a positive direction in life. I want to think and read more about this. Onward.
