A clean house, a free mind

Yesterday I pushed myself to do a lot of dull, onerous tasks, and once those jobs were done, I felt a lot better. When the house is clean and tidy, my mind is definitely more free and ready to live well. That's probably why that old adage, Cleanliness is next to godliness, got its start. Now with those jobs done, I'm better ready to move into the new year with a sense of purpose and some balance with regard to the threatening Trumpsters who impact our every day negatively these days.

So what's on the project/life agenda for the months ahead?

Continued upkeep, purge, cleaning at home

Keeping a home up to the minute as my mom would say takes daily attention. I want to build related tasks into the weekly routine and make time for some big jobs like a big garage clean-up/organization, painting some rooms, cleaning rugs, and then garden chores.

Healthy routines

I've been trying to rework my weekly routines for years, and honestly, at this point in life I have more time and energy to make some big improvements. Plus, as I noted to a friend recently, access to so much information on the Internet really helps with new initiatives because when questions arise, I can easily find most answers. So I am hopeful that I'll be able to improve my healthy routines this year.

Contribution

People give me a strange look when I tell them I spend a lot of time looking after my family, but honestly that's what I do and that's what I'm motivated to do. I enjoy being part of my family members' lives and I enjoy spending considerable time helping them out. I like to help the greater community too in ways that I can, but I am wary of over-committing since I spent a large portion of my life over-extended, and I don't want to repeat that.

Reading

I've returned to reading, and I am really enjoying that. There are so many great books out there.

Scrabble

Scrabble is a bit of an addiction for me. I play mostly online against all kinds of people I don't know. I love the way that playing a game of Scrabble relaxes and resets me. The online program runs with a good score algorithm that provides a positive challenge when it comes to improving your game and increasing your rating.

Garden

I want to do some winter sowing. I have the supplies, and now it's simply a matter of doing the work.

The arts

I scheduled a few arts-related events. I find that the arts truly feed the spirit, and that's especially important during the dark winter months.

Friends and family

We have a number of events planned. It's always great to join friends and family for a nice meal.

Karaoke

I want to improve my karaoke ability. Many in my family enjoy this pastime and I want to be able to contribute in enjoyable ways.

Onward.

Moving beyond the sadness and worry

If you read my blog, you know I've been very sad and worried about a loved one lately. His care needs are extensive and the needed ener...
