I often hear people long for a time when moms were home, dads worked, and kids played safely all over the neighborhood. That was what my childhood was like, and there were many plusses about that model, but there were minuses too. One BIG minus was that woman, in many cases, didn't have the opportunity to work, lead, or make a suitable income. That's why the women's movement started and grew. Yet, as the movement rose, people forgot about all the jobs that women were doing to keep the culture strong--women at home were essentially caring for the community. Moms like mine were supporting the church, schools, neighbors, and neighborhood with their time, energy, intelligence, and care. Moms weren't paid for that work, but that unpaid work helped to make the culture strong.
I believe that we should follow the model of countries where the happiest people live--countries that broadened the roles of women while also maintaining time and money to keep communities strong. Women can lead, make a good income, parent, and care for the community too in conjunction with men--it doesn't have to be one or the other, but life as we think of it has to change to accommodate this. Old fashion, outdated, self-serving leaders like Trump and his cronies don't think about new ideas. All they think about is how to increase their personal wealth and power--they don't care about you or me.
A good world will embrace ways of living that enrich ALL lives. These are policies that can lift our lives.
Provide adequate child care
Right now too many families are struggling to afford the time and resources to well care for their children. I am a fan of paid two-year leave for all families per child up to three children per family, and then free daycare/school beginning at age 2.
Update and Enrich American Schools
Public education is suffering in the USA thanks to the lack of support schools are receiving from our government. Republican leaders clearly want an ignorant population because when the populous is dumb, they are much easier to abuse and oppress. Meanwhile smart countries across the globe are building better, stronger educational systems. The USA will lose ground due to this big problem. We must support the best that our public schools can be in order to promote a well educated, innovative, civil, and collaborative population.
Keep church and state separate
The fact that the Trumpers are using "Christianity" as their calling card is wrong, wrong, wrong! First of all, Christ would NEVER support Trump actions--anyone who considers themselves a Christian knows that Christ's call was to serve the poor and act with utmost humanity. Christ wouldn't kill innocent people to obtain more oil in order to enrich himself--that's simply not Christian. No church is perfect and no church has no value--church and state must be separate.
Provide every American with adequate housing, good nutrition, safe neighborhoods, healthy recreation, and health care.
We can provide basic needs to every American. The Trumpers want to keep Americans weak and wanting because that makes us vulnerable, frightened, and easier to manipulate, oppress, and abuse. Support leaders who believe that we can provide basic needs to all the world's people in peaceful, positive ways.
Invest in green energy
To not invest in green energy is to spell disaster for our lives and certainly for the lives of generations to come. It's just plain dumb and inhumane to not support green energy. This is another area where the Trumpers are putting all of our lives in danger.
Support policies that keep us safe
The use of force does not keep us safe in the long run. Force and violence breeds more force and violence. If we use our collective intelligence, creativity, and care to foster policies that prevent crime, disease, and harm, we will all live better lives.
More taxation for ultra wealthy
No one needs billions of dollars. Gosh I live a great life with far, far, far less money than that. I pay my fair share of taxes and see taxes as a membership fee--it's right to pay your share as we all profit from what our taxes can do together. Sadly, right now, the Trump team is abusing our hard earned tax dollars by using our money to add gold to the Oval Office, manipulate public documents with lies, support Trump's golf habit and Mara Lago parties, attack other countries to enrich political leaders, and more waste and abuse. However, by taxing the ultra wealthy more and electing responsible leaders who oversee the use of our tax dollars, we can afford to build more supports into our culture--the kinds of supports that increase opportunity, safety, recreation, and good living for all.
Right now we are under the leadership of a cult leader who only cares about his own wealth and power--he does not care about you or anyone else. People that believe he is working for them have been greatly fooled and manipulated. We can do better. Please do what you can to peacefully turn the tide to a better, happier, more positive modern culture that brings forth the positive traditions and living from the past while also providing greater opportunity for good living for all into the future. We can do this.
