I fell down the Trump hole yesterday after reading about the Republican Administration's unwillingness to support Ukraine, to reduce sanctions and/or eliminate sanctions against Russia and impose economically devastating tariffs on our good neighbors Canada and Mexico as well as other countries. Day after day Trump abuses his executive powers with decisions that enrich himself, his family and cronies while making life more difficult for most Americans and many others across the globe. Trump is truly a terror as are all of those that work with him--they are greedy, selfish, harmful people not unlike the group that Hitler assembled at the start of the Nazi regime. It is terrifying and greatly oppressive to have leadership like this. It's also awful to see how many blindly follow Trump and his media channels without making the time to look beneath his manipulative marketing.
As I think of all the pain and suffering Trump and The Republican Administration are causing, I am cognizant of how many people around the world have had to deal with this kind of tyrannical leadership throughout time--many of those who were oppressed came to the United States to escape that oppression in their home countries, and now we are facing the hateful bigotry, greed, narrow-mindedness and short-sightedness of a corrupt Trump regime. It's frightening, frustrating, hurtful, and harmful. What can we do?
Some privileged democrats with power say do nothing and let Americans who voted for Trump see how horrible he is. These same democrats stayed virtually passive during the last election. Like too many GOP, I do believe there are some democratic leaders who are also blinded by their privilege--they don't realize how the Trump team's decisions threaten everyday people who have worked with honesty, diligence, and good service throughout their lives and now have to watch Trump abuse their hard earned tax, medicare, and social security dollars as he seeks wealth for himself and his cronies.
Also to watch Musk infiltrate and manipulate the lives, data, and finances of all Americans with seemingly random decisions that affect people's daily lives and our country's future is sickening. Everyone knows that Trump has no idea what Musk is doing because Trump is a tech illiterate, and we can all speculate why Musk stays close to Trump's side all the time as he makes these devastating cuts of informational websites, personnel, and agencies that provide expertise and helpful service to Americans and people around the world. It's also horrible to see how Musk cozies up with dictators across the globe leading one to believe that Musk sees the whole affair as a giant world domination video game, a game that he's already winning if you consider the vast tax dollars he earns daily via multiple government contracts and his ability to harm any competition he has with his access to all government agency data and decision making.
Further it is devastating to watch Trump advertise his allegiance to Russian leadership by ambushing Zelensky disrespectfully with VP Vance in the White House on Friday, discontinuing military assistance to Ukraine, lying about who started the war with Ukraine, eliminating or reducing sanctions against Russia and speaking highly of his collaboration with Russian's leader Putin. If you follow what's happening in Russia, you would not choose to support that country's leadership--there's little freedom for the people when it comes to good living and free speech, the Russian people are oppressed, threatened, and often harmed by their leaders--it's unlike what most of us have experienced in the United States in recent times. I do know that our country has not been perfect and we have to make-up for past injustice to many groups and individuals, but we were on a good path until the Republican Administration promoted their greedy, hateful, oppressive leadership.
There is worry about too many Democratic leaders too. I'm glad they are sticking together, but like most everyday people, I want to see them acting more to rid our government of Trump terror, the kind of terror that is greatly harming the lives of everyday people. I want them to be more creative and active to end this hateful carnage against our country. As for myself I have joined good organizations, I read the daily reports, I send a few dollars to good leadership, and I am speaking out, telling my stories, and participating in protests to try to end this oppressive, hateful, hurtful Republican Administration attack as well as their allegiance to Putin.
But as so many say, this will be a long battle and we have to take care of our health so we can sustain the needed energy to work against the Republican Administration hate and harm. I have a lot of homework to do beginning with reading all the information on Indivisible which many point to as a good resource for working against the harmful Republican officials in place at this time.
I'm frustrated. This is not the United States I want to live in. I was so happy with the Biden administration who were working around the clock to serve ALL Americans. Every day I saw their work in action as crews improved local roads, bridges, and sidewalks; teachers could point to a respectful President again; the country's economy improved; there was help and empathy during natural tragedies; families enjoyed well-staffed national parks; we could feel confident that the country was working to mitigate the harmful effects of climate change; and we could see ourselves in Biden's wonderfully diverse team of bright, collaborative, experienced experts in their fields--individuals unlike Trump's cabinet of angry, hateful, greedy mostly wealthy men and big Trump donors--it's disgusting and painful.
This is the reality in March of 2025--reminds me of March 2021 when Trump led us into COVID lockdowns with a similar litany of lies, untrustworthy actions, a terrorizing team, greed and deadly decisions. It's horrible.
