I am a big fan of freedom. I'm also a person who believes that diversity is our strength and there are many, many ways to live good lives. Further, I believe that the equation exists for everyone on Earth to live a good life. I don't think we have to be the kind of world where some people thrive while others suffer--I believe we can live good lives and help and support one another too.
Of course it will never be perfect, but I believe we must do what we can to direct our efforts toward a peaceful, respectful, free world where people can find their own paths to happiness in honest, positive ways.
Right now in the United States our freedom is compromised by the current Republican Leadership team, a team which includes elected officials such as the Republican Congress, President Trump, and Vice President Vance and appointed members including Trump's cabinet and other appointed workers such as Elon Musk who appears to have vast unchecked powers within the Trump administration. By all counts, it appears that the current Republican administration is doing all they can to appease Putin and Musk, powerful leaders who appear to control many within the Republican Administration. There is no evidence that Musk, Putin, or the Republican Administration are working for the common individual, but instead, it seems that the Republican Administration and those they serve are working to greatly increase the power, pleasure, profit, and privilege of a small group of narrow-minded, bigoted, power-hungry individuals. This is a threat to most people in the United States and abroad. This is in contrast to the kinds of leaders that work to uplift all people and countries in general in honest, collaborative, positive ways.
So what are we to do as the common people? How to we work to retain and increase our freedom and good living? What can we do?
Join groups who support the common good
Join your union, groups such as ACLU, Indivisible, Democracy Docket, Heather Cox Richardson and more.
Interact with like-minded individuals and share your knowledge
Keep each other abreast of what is going on and how we can work together to prevent even more harm to our country and individuals.
Peacefully act to promote our democracy
Protest, make calls, write letters, tell your story, and contribute in ways that you can to support a good democratic country where everyone has the opportunity to live good lives.
Stay informed
Learn about the history of democracy, study the lives of the current Republican Administration members, study the lives of strong Democratic leaders--understand the problems that are happening know, understand when disinformation is being spread, and know how to get involved in significant ways.
Trump and his Republican Administration are clever marketeers who are hungry to increase their personal profit, pleasure, power, and privilege--we need to be clever too in our efforts to educate and promote the good country we have now and an even better country in the future. We can stay passive in the face of the coup that is happening now. Please speak up, get informed and act.
