The learning curve expenses

Yesterday was a very costly day for me in terms of learning curves--yesterday's learning curves cost me time, money, and peace of mind. Why did this happen?

Financial costs

I attempted to fix a new home fixture only to break it more. I thought I was on the right path, but instead I destroyed the item. I've been working on this item for days and now have to swallow the cost of the broken item (not that costly). I had the chance to get the item fixed for free, but dragged my feet. Then I researched the problem and tried many solutions--all of which failed and cost me the price of the equipment I bought to repair the item, and now the item is destroyed. What's next? I will look for a replacement that doesn't require repair or costly installation and if that doesn't work, I'll have to hire someone to do the job which requires craftsmanship and skill that I don't have. Over time in recent years, I've saved a lot of money and learned a lot by repairing/creating household improvements or updates, so to swallow this cost is not a huge deal, but it does caution me to think a bit more about the skills I have and don't have when it comes to this work in the future.

Health costs

I had a tough health day, and in part, it may be because I pushed myself to hard in the past few weeks and not enough in the weeks before that. A steady, consistent healthy lifestyle is best.

Time costs

I've got a lot of new learning on the schedule, and while new learning is mostly positive, It does take a a lot of time.

Peace of Mind

There is peace in knowing, but if you don't update your knowledge continuously, you'll soon find yourself in the realm of unknowing. So it's critical to forgo peace of mind sometimes in order to embrace new learning.
