Varying perspectives

For years now I've been dealing with a situation where everyone involved has a somewhat different perspective. In many respects, I'm the bad guy in the situation since my perspective is much different from everyone else's. I've considered there perspectives, and while I don't totally disagree, I still maintain a belief that my perspective holds value even if the others disagree. It's difficult to be the one out in a situation, but that happens from time to time. And, in this case, there's no perfect solution so I'm willing to simply back out of the ordeal, help out when I can, and surrender my opinion as for the most part, I'm not in charge.

As I think about this situation, I have thought about many varying scenarios into the future. The scenario I. most desired was vetoed so I have to move on into a future different than what I imagined. This happens often in life. For example, you might imagine yourself married forever to your first love and then that relationship ends. That creates space for a new scenario. The same may be true when you lose a job, make a move, or face other unexpected life events. You have to wrap up the dreams you had in some significant, meaningful way and then move ahead. Those who have met with some of life's gravest challenges know this better than me--they've had to deal with excruciating unexpected events, and then move on. That's never easy at all.

So as I move on, what's important to me. Once again, it's the same old, same old list that I've used as my rudder for some time.

A warm, welcoming home

After considering a host of possible moves, my husband and I decided to stay in our home for the time being. This decision has led us to make a number of home improvements and updates to make our home a warm and welcoming place for friend/family members visits, celebrations, favorite pastimes, and daily comfort and health.

Celebratory times with friends and family

I love what celebrations do for life--celebrations provide awesome goalposts for needed projects, good analysis, recognizing people's strengths/promise, and simply getting together to enjoy each others company.

Travel, adventure, and exploration

I love what adventures near and far do for our perspectives. In so many ways travel, adventure, and exploration opens our eyes, clears our minds, and gives us new and positive perspectives for life.

Contribution and help

I love when I am able to honestly and positively help others. I gain great joy from helping others and positively contributing to society. I look for opportunities to do that.

Analysis, writing, and thinking

As I often say, thinking is a sport for me. I love to ponder life's events and write about that.

Creativity

I totally enjoy making things--whether it's creating a garden, cooking a meal, making a card, writing a story, or completing a craft, it gives me great pleasure to make things.

So as I think about the fact that my perspective may differ greatly from others and that some of the dreams I have won't be dreams shared by others or dreams able to come to fruition, I will focus on the good life I have and the patterns I'll foster to live the best possible life that I'm able to live. Onward.

Moving beyond the sadness and worry

If you read my blog, you know I've been very sad and worried about a loved one lately. His care needs are extensive and the needed ener...
