My most common metaphor or explanation of life is that of a journey. I visualize life as a hike via plains, hills, mountains, valleys, waterways and more. I like the journey metaphor for life as it's a good starting point for reflection about where you're headed and where you've been.
As I pause today I realize that my husband and I are at the close of a months-long chapter of home updates. We invested in a large number of home updates to make our house safer, more attractive, and more comfortable. There's still a few jobs to complete as well as new projects to come, but for now it's an essentially a stopping point when it comes to home updates.
So with one chapter at its end, what will be the focus and activity of the next chapter?
The next chapter will be an active adventure and gardening chapter. It will be a chapter of more outdoor activity than inside activity. What are the goals?
Adventure
In the next few months, I hope that we'll get out into the beautiful New England landscape a lot to bike, hike, swim, camp and more. I hope we'll join with friends for all those good times and live a very healthy lifestyle too.
Gardening
While I'm simplifying my garden somewhat, I'll tend it regularly and see what I can grow successfully. The weather has created a good start for my perennials and first plants. I was able to use parsley from the garden in cooking this past weekend. There's a basil plant that's doing well which I'll use soon too.
There are a few rainy day projects scheduled too. One is to create a family history book about my family and the other is to make photo books and collections for family members as holiday projects. A third project is a cookbook my cousin and I want to create.
There are god days ahead. Onward.
