In the United States today, we witness many wealthy leaders who only think of themselves. These are greedy individuals who spend their days trying to figure out how to make more money and pleasure for themselves rather than focusing on ways to enrich the collective good and quality living for all.
I ache as I watch these mostly white men manipulate the media, finances, laws, and leadership for what they perceive to be good for them alone. Clearly these individuals have no idea about the wealth that comes from creating a better, brighter world for others. They are trapped in their personal greed, backwards vision, and unrecognized, deeper needs. What many of these selfish individuals have in common is depraved childhoods filled with superficial supports. It appears that many of these individuals lack the amazing gifts that a strong, loving family, a quality education, and deeply rewarding experiences bring to life.
These people who have spent their lives trying to raise the limits of their bank accounts and other acquisitions, have lost sight of what the world really needs--they are mostly hateful, prejudiced individuals who quickly judge others by the shade of their skin, value of their bank accounts, and religious/geographical backgrounds rather than see the potential that every person holds for powerful contributions to the greater world and their own lives too.
It's not too late for these people to change. They hold great power and rather than use that power to delete accounts, programs, and leaders that truly help others, they could change course and direct their efforts towards the common good and positive lives for all. If they do this, they won't believe the good that comes--a good far greater than anything they have experienced so far in life.
Rich or poor or in-between, we all hold amazing potential for good--we can pay it forward in ways that truly improve the lives around us and our own lives too. I am hopeful about this because as I often remark, everywhere I go, the far majority of people I meet are good, hard working, kind and helpful people. Those greedy folks who are lost in the sea of their own prejudices, hate, and greed have to change--there's no reason to remain as heartless, hurtful, and destructive as they are. They can do better. We can all do better.
