In life who your friends are change throughout time. You may rely on one friend a lot during one chapter and another friend during another chapter. There may be friends who live close by that are a mainstay throughout your life and those who are there for only short periods of time. All kinds of life events impact friendships, and typically when you and your friend share common quests, interests, care for each other, values, and philosophy of life, your friendship will continue in some way over time.
As I aim to get comfortable with the variables related to friendship. I want to stay true to these values:
- If a friend needs me and I have what they need, I want to be there for them.
- I always want to be kind and loving to my friends.
- Honesty matters a lot to me, and I want to be honest with my friends and accept their honesty too.
- If a friend is being harsh or uncaring, I want to take some time out to figure out what's going on.
- I want to accept the fact that I can't be all things for any friend--my friends will have many other friends.
- I want my friends to have their best possible lives for themselves and those they love.
- I don't want to overwhelm my friends.
- I want to continually make new friends in life.
- I want to be a good friend.
