Obviously it's good to repeat that which works well and feels good; but why do we repeat patterns that don't feel good and don't work well?
We've all seen comedic routines where the person does the same thing over and over again until one day they just can't stand it anymore and they either make a change or attempt to make a change. That happens in our own lives too. We put up with small, bothersome behaviors, either our own or someone else's, until that moment comes when we've had it, and we decide not to do that anymore or at least acknowledge the negativity and try not to do it again.
That happened to me recently, I engaged in a same dead-end behavior only to face the same negative result. I'm sick of that negative pattern. I've tried to change it time and again, but the pattern persists so I'll try again.
Why does this happen? I don't believe I've put enough time into deconstructing the set of circumstances and actions that lead to this negative event. I have to make time to think about every detail to help me make change. I also have to think carefully about the kind of outcome I hope for and be accurate in that regard. I'll do that today.
