Today as I take another stab at making my home just-right for my family and me, I am thinking about the question: Does your home work for you or against you?
As I've written about countless times, I'm the kind of person that needs a lean, simple home with few items. I'd rather less things and more time. Yet, I like to have the items that matter and make a positive difference in my life.
So as I think about this today, I'm thinking about how I'll continue to make my home work for me and not against me with the following actions:
Clothes
I live a simple life. I don't need a lot of clothes. I'll once again go through the clothes I have and make a bag to give away keeping only the items I enjoy wearing for the activities I engage in.
Cooking supplies
I have a BIG family so I need a fair share of cooking and serving supplies. Yet, on a daily basis I don't need that many supplies. So I'll store away the supplies I use when my big family comes to visit and I'll make sure that the supplies I use daily are at an easy, accessible distance in the kitchen.
Food
I recently went through the food supply we have and cooked down which I means I cooked a lot of foods that we had on hand. That was a good step in the direction of filling the cabinets and fridge with healthy ingredients to use to make cook, healthy meals and snacks.
Writing and creativity supplies
We have two desks which is enough space for our writing and creativity supplies.
Garden supplies
There's space under the deck and in the back of the garage for this.
Garage
We need a good system for our garage--I'll likely work on that in the spring.
Outdoor supplies
We have good spaces in the basement and garage for these supplies.
Books
The goal is to put the books back on the bookcases and to cull the bookcases so the important books we want to keep can be kept there.
I'm in one of those purge moods today which is the best mood to be in for a good house clean-up. Onward.
