We all know that life is imperfect and the world we live in is imperfect too. How do we live well as imperfect people in an imperfect world?
First, it's important to accept the fact that the world is imperfect, and it's similarly important to navigate the imperfections of the world with as much love, grace, positivity, courage and goodness as you can muster. The more you engage in positive actions that uplift and enrich your life and the lives of others, the better.
I also believe it is important to face the imperfections rather than ignore those imperfections--move forward in life with your eyes open rather than your eyes closed. Find the good people, good places, good activities, and good direction that will lead you ahead. Also find ways to diminish the imperfections that create harm and hurt in your life and elsewhere.
As far as our personal imperfections. We will likely grow to accept some of those imperfections while working to remedy others. No one is perfect, but we can work to be our best selves.
As I move ahead, I'm thinking about how these thoughts translate into actions in my life.
Simplicity
Living a simple life creates more room for adventure, exploration, growth, and contribution--I want my material life to be as simple as possible.
Natural beauty
Little fills me up as much as a dose of natural beauty. Whether it be a walk or bike ride in the woods, along a beach, at a farm, in the mountains, or through a meadow, the natural world fills me up in so many ways.
Family and friend love/relationships
I love being surrounded by people who I love. I love sharing stories, solving problems, creating, celebrating, and all the wonderful and positive ways people come together with the people I love. I want to nurture and grow those relationships.
Acceptance
People's lives are moving in all kinds of varying directions. Everyone has their share of ups and downs, and everyone makes personal choices that affect where they are going and why they are going there. I want to accept this diversity of living with the recognition that as we walk along the road of life we will spend minutes with some, hours with others, days with still more, and years, months, and decades with likely a few. While I'm the kind of person who would like to spend all of life with all that I have known or know now, I recognize that's not realistic.
Love
I want to deepen my ability to live in loving, positive ways as I believe that's the center of any good life.
Onward.
