Republican Administration times: Commit to doing what's right by humanity

What frightens me most about our current Republican administration is their obvious disregard for humanity today and into the future. Rather than support quality health care, research, education, environmental protections, and everything else that supports good living for all, they appear to be singly focused on the wealth and greed for a few while making lots of short-sighted decisions that will harm most people now and into the future. You have to invest good time, energy, smarts, and money into efforts and decisions that will create a positive future for all of us. To deny what we need for optimal survival is wasteful, hurtful, and just plain ignorant. I'm a fan of building a positive, humane future rather than destroying the good possible.

How do we react in a time when too many leaders are supporting a dreary, inhumane future for too many people and places? What do we do?

First, it's important to join groups, support individuals, and do what you can to support what's right for humanity. These are some actions that will help:

  • Join the ACLU that supports civil liberties
  • Support independent agencies and journalists who are sharing honest information and working to right our country's course in humane, intelligent ways
  • Stay informed by reading, listening to, and watching a variety of news sources
  • Support the kinds of leaders who work with what's best for all of humanity in mind--support these leaders with your dollars, votes, time, and energy
  • Join in protests that are bringing people together to work for what is right and good for all
  • Engage in good work and volunteer efforts where you are directly helping others in positive ways
If you're doing what you can, you will find that the stress is less and hope increases. Onward.
