What will this chapter of life bring? For the most part, I've made peace with the past, and now I'm ready to move ahead. If you read my blog, you know that my life is a series of fits and starts with the hope of doing it right next time, yet "right" is an evasive proposition in this life of surprises.
So what will this chapter bring.
Love
I want to dive deeply into the proposition of what it means to live a loving life. The longer I live, the more I believe that love is the best way to live and the best hope to live for. With that in mind, the questions that I want to think about in this regard include these:
- What is love as an action?
- What does a loving life look like?
- How are we best loving towards others?
Differences
Throughout my life differences of opinion have been difficult. As an educator, there were leaders and colleagues who felt very differently than me about what constitutes a good education--that was difficult for me. In my family, we've had differences about how to best care for our elderly loved ones--that's been difficult for me. With friends, there have been differences about what constitutes a good friendship and a good use of time--that too has been difficult. In life, there will always be differences, and learning to deal with differences in loving, peaceful, productive ways is a top priority for me.
Health
In my life, responsibility often trumped good health. I always loved caring for my family members even as a young child, and this sometimes put me in a position of great responsibility and less healthful living. Those patterns you establish as a young person are difficult to change as you grow older, but I'm not giving up. Finding the right balance between responsibilities and healthful living is a challenge I hope to meet.
Simple living
For me, simple living is the key to a good life.
Onward.
