It's easy to be passive in the face of responsibilities as some responsibilities are tough and tiresome, yet we all know that when we live up to the responsibilities we have, we live better lives.
Today I wanted to do an audit of the responsibilities I have--am I living up to those responsibilities in faithful, positive ways?
Care
I want to care for my loved ones, and assessing what I can do for those people and what I do is essential. To care for others is an endless proposition, but as you consider this proposition, you can guide yourself with the following questions:
- Do my loved ones have what they need for happy, healthy lives? Is there anything I can provide or do for my loved ones to help them live happily and healthy?
- As I look ahead, are there any efforts I can plan for to help my loved ones in thoughtful, useful ways?
- Are there patterns that I engage in that are not helpful when it comes to my loved ones' lives and happiness? Is revision required in some areas of life.
Finances
Do my expenditures reflect my beliefs as well as responsibility with regard to the future. Like most people, I want to be as independent and responsible as possible with regard to my finances, so that means keeping track of what I spend and how I spend. Also I don't want to spend my dollars at businesses or activities that support poor leadership, impact, or decision making. I do want to support positive leadership, efforts, and supports as I can.
Efforts
How do I spend my time? Do I spend my time in responsible, helpful ways or do I waste time in thoughtless, unhelpful ways.
When we're responsible as we can be towards ourselves, others, and the greater community, we tend to be happier and more successful. It's good to reflect on that now and then. Onward.
