As Thanksgiving nears, I'm reminded of the need to appreciate each day and the people in your life. Essentially, count your blessings.
So as I think about counting my blessings, I'm also thinking about what I can do to outwardly celebrate and acknowledge those blessings.
People
The holidays provide a good stage for recognizing the good people in your life. Whether it be dinner parties, cards, gifts, or special events, letting those you love and appreciate know that you care is a valuable way to count your blessings.
Community
Finding ways to contribute to the greater community is another way to count your blessings--I'm sure that most people can point to a number of community people, events, and places that they are grateful for, and finding ways to support the community is another way to acknowledge your blessings. This can be as simple as picking up trash at a local park, donating to a local shelter, or volunteering your time to support good community actions.
Presence and availability
Simply being available to help out when needed is another way to actively count your blessings.
Today I want to make some time to quietly list the blessings I'm grateful for, and think about ways to acknowledge those blessings via action. Onward.
