Holiday traditions

 What holiday traditions do you make time for year after year? How do you best accomplish the work needed to keep those traditions alive?

Family/friend parties

We have a number of family/friend traditional parties, and for each of those we do some of the cooking and prep.

  • Women's party: quiche, breads, potato dish, roasted veggies, cookies
  • Thanksgiving: turkey, scalloped sweet potatoes, butternut squash, mashed potatoes, gravy, sourdough stuffing, green bean casserole, sweet breads, cranberry sauce, salad, pies, ice cream
  • Santa party: meatballs, sausage, rolls, salad, cookies
  • Gifts: breads, fudge
  • Christmas: lasagnas, meatballs, sausage, sauce, salad, eggplant parm, ice cream sundaes, cookies, stuffed mushrooms, spinach triangles
  • Christmas Eve - healthy, tasty hot meal - seafood Newburg, parsley rice, peas, chocolate mousse, spinach triangles appetzer
Decorating
  • outdoor solar and other lights, wreaths
  • indoor tree, lights, holiday decor
  • house cleaning/prep for a crowd
Fun
  • games
  • karaoke
  • Yankee Swap - grabs
Gifts
  • simple, thoughtful
