Planning for the unknown

 Watching my loved ones' age makes me think about the great unknown that's ahead in life. Death, or the Great Mystery, as I refer to it is an unknown for all of us. We know we will die, but we have no idea what the circumstances leading to our deaths will be like. Yet, we can make reasonable plans for self-care with regard to aging so we burden others as little as possible. 

What can we do to prepare for life's last chapter? 

First, keep your records in order and don't fill your homes with lots of useless objects. As they say, you can't take things with you so why hold on to lots of useless stuff. 

Next, do what you can to be financially secure in old age because old age requires some funds for your living arrangements and supports. Friends and relatives who had long-term life insurance appeared to have more peaceful end-of-life chapters than those who did not. 

Make sure that those you put in charge of your funds and care have the ability to care for you in ways that you wish. And make sure that you share your hopes and dreams for your future with those who you put in charge of your care. 

We can't plan for all that will happen in our final days, but we can set the stage for as good care as possible. Onward. 

Unexpected events

 When unexpected events occur, you have to adapt with as much positivity as possible. As I deal with my loved one's medical challenges, ...
